- Q. Are there advantages to having a My Number Card?

- Q. Why are My Number Cards necessary?
- A. The My Number program was devised to make certain processes more convenient for residents and to streamline government services, among other purposes. Please visit the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications’s website for more information.

Pop-up Application Assistance

- Q. Do I need to make an appointment?
- A. You don’t need an appointment. Simply come to the service location on the scheduled date.

- Q. Are there any dates scheduled other than those listed?
- A. All currently scheduled venues are listed on the website.
Future dates will be added as they are scheduled.

- Q. Is there parking at venues?
- A. There is no parking available specifically for users of My Number Card pop-up application assistance. Please use the host site’s parking or a nearby parking lot.

- Q. Which train station is closest to my location?
- A. It depends on which location you choose. Please either consult the location’s website or contact the City of Osaka’s My Number Card Pop-up Application Assistance Desk.

- Q. How much time does the application take?
- A. About 5 to 10 minutes (if the location isn’t crowded).

- Q. How long will it take to get my My Number Card after I apply?
- A. You’ll receive a postcard-size issuance notice in about one month.
Take it, along with the other required documents, to the office shown on the postcard.

- Q. What do I need to bring with me when I apply?
- A. It’s not required, but if you bring a My Number Card application with a QR Code, you can complete the application process in about 5 minutes. If you have one, please bring it.

- Q. Can I use application assistance service even if I don’t live in the city of Osaka?
- A. You can use application assistance, for example to have your ID photo taken, as long as you’re a registered resident of Japan. You’ll receive an application form. Simply fill in your My Number and mail it in or submit it in person. Check your Notification Card or Individual Number Notice for your My Number, or obtain a copy of your resident register that includes your My Number.

- Q. Can young children also receive assistance with their application?
- A. Yes, as long as they’re accompanied by their parent or guardian.

- Q. Can foreign residents receive assistance with their application?
- A. Foreign residents can receive assistance with their application as long as they’re registered as a resident of Japan.
However, residents who have less than about one month remaining on their visa may be asked to apply after renewing their visa.

- Q. I have a vision (hearing) disability. Can I still receive assistance with my application?
- A. Yes, but applicants must come to the venue in person. You will be assisted by staff at the venue when you arrive.

On-site Application Service

- Q. Can I receive on-site assistance outside the city of Osaka?
- A. On-site assistance is only available within the city of Osaka. Thank you for your understanding.

- Q. Can I receive my My Number Card on the spot?

No, you won’t be able to receive your card right away. If you have the required ID documents with you, your My Number Card will be mailed to you about one month after you apply. If you don’t have the required ID documents with you, you won’t be able to receive your card by mail. Instead, you’ll receive a notice of issuance about one month after you apply, and you can then pick up your card at the government office listed on the notice.

No, you won’t be able to receive your card right away. Please contact your city, town, or village office to find out how to pick up your card.

- Q. If I apply, can I receive a gift?
- A. There are no novelty merchandise items available for people who take advantage of on-site application service. Thank you for your understanding.

- Q. Our company would like to take advantage of on-site application assistance, and we're wondering if residents of cities, towns, and villages other than Osaka can also take advantage of that assistance.
- A. Your company can receive on-site assistance as long as there are at least five people who live in the city of Osaka. Non-residents can receive assistance with having their ID photo taken and filling out the application. Instead of receiving their card by mail, non-residents will need to pick it up at their city, town, or village office.
